Revolution W vs Revolution X: Which HPC Flagship Fits You?

The Revolution W and the Revolution X sit at the top of the Hi Power Cycles range. Both are hand-built in the USA on the same Revolution frame concept, and both carry over 9 inches of frame travel and Schlumpf gearing, so you can keep pedaling at high speed. Past that, they're built for different riders. This guide puts them side by side so you can see which one fits you.

Power and speed
The biggest gap is straight-line performance. The Revolution X comes standard with 6,000W, and its 7,000W option is capable of 60+ MPH. That's already far more than almost any rider will use on a mountain. The Revolution W runs an HPC-tuned Nucular P24F controller at 78V and makes 10,500W and 280Nm, for an 80 MPH top speed. If the top number is what you're buying, the W is the fastest bike HPC makes.
Speed has a cost, though. The power needed to beat aerodynamic drag rises steeply as you go faster, so the difference between 60 and 80 MPH takes far more energy than the numbers suggest. That's why the W carries a large 78V 27.9Ah pack. More on that in What Makes an E-Bike High-Power?
Suspension and handling
The Revolution X is a downhill and freeride machine first. It runs a 203mm RockShox Boxxer World Cup fork, which is about as good as downhill forks get, plus a Vivid R2C air shock that HPC says saves nearly 2 lbs over the standard setup. On steep, technical terrain it's the sharper tool.
The Revolution W uses premium EXT suspension front and rear, with 200mm up front and over 9 inches of frame travel. It rolls on 19-inch moto-style rims with Shinko 244 tires, so it's set up more for high-speed stability and long, fast rides than for tight downhill lines. For more on how these setups differ, see High-End E-Bike Suspension.
Brakes
Both bikes use Magura, sized for their speed. The X runs Magura MT7 quad-piston brakes, which beat everything else HPC tested for the bike. The W steps up to Magura Gustav brakes with thick 223mm rotors at both ends, a moto-grade setup for a bike that reaches 80 MPH.
Features and finish
The W is the more complete package. It adds a rally-style cockpit with a 5.5-inch TFT Bluetooth display, forward and rear cameras, integrated LED lighting, a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper and forged carbon bodywork. It's officially licensed Wayne Enterprises, and it ships fully assembled in a custom crate. The X is more focused: top-tier suspension and brakes on a lighter, pure downhill build.
Price and value
At $15,000, the Revolution X gives you HPC's best downhill hardware without the limited-edition premium. At $29,995, the Revolution W is the fastest, most fully equipped bike in the lineup, and it's also a collectible with only 27 being built.
Which one should you buy?
- Choose the Revolution X if you ride steep, technical downhill and freeride terrain and want the best suspension and brakes on the lightest Revolution build.
- Choose the Revolution W if you want the highest top speed HPC makes, the most range and features, and a limited-edition bike that will hold its value as a collectible.
- Consider the Revolution MX or MX Pro if 50 MPH is plenty and you'd rather put the difference toward riding.

Before you ride
Both bikes go far beyond the legal definition of an electric bicycle in the US (750W, with assisted speed capped at 20 or 28 mph). They're for private land and closed off-road riding. Wear full protective gear and check the rules where you live. California's new SB 1167 takes effect on January 1, 2027 and draws a firmer line between e-bikes and higher-powered electric vehicles. We break it down in 50 MPH Electric Bikes.
