Most electric bikes sold in America aren't actually made here. They're imported in a shipping container from overseas, dropped at a US warehouse, and re-boxed under an American-sounding brand name. A few brands attach final stickers stateside and call it "assembled in USA." That's the standard the e-bike industry has quietly settled into — and most buyers have no idea.

Hi Power Cycles has been doing the opposite since 2008. Every HPC is hand-built in our Simi Valley, California facility by our master technicians, start to finish, using American-assembled battery systems, USA-manufactured frames (for all aluminum frames), and premium components sourced domestically wherever possible. We're the only true American-made high-performance e-bike brand on the GSA Schedule, trusted by US Special Forces, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the US Air Force. This guide explains what separates real American manufacturing from marketing — and why it should matter to you whether you're a consumer rider, a dealer, or a government procurement officer.

"Made in USA" is the most abused phrase in the electric bike industry. We've spent 18 years earning it.

01 — The Industry Reality

The Truth About "Made in USA" Electric Bikes

Search "American made electric bike" and you'll find dozens of brands using the phrase. Look one layer deeper and you'll find something else: most of them are importing fully assembled bikes from Asia, removing the shipping packaging, and shipping them out under a US warehouse address. A handful do final assembly stateside — tightening handlebars, installing a saddle, calibrating a display — and call that "American-made."

Honestly, we don't even know — besides us — if there are any truly American e-bike companies out there who actually manufacture frames, build batteries, and do the full assembly here in the USA. What's left for them to call "American-made" at that point is the company's marketing department.

HPC operates differently. Our aluminum-frame platforms — Revolution, MPUV, Scout, and Titan — are manufactured in the USA. Our battery packs are assembled in California and Nevada using the most advanced cell technology available. Our wheels are hand-built. Every bike is built start-to-finish by our master mechanical technicians and finished by our master electrical specialist. The phrase "Made in USA" isn't a marketing claim for us — it's how we've operated since 2008, when the category we now lead didn't even exist yet.

02 — What Sets Us Apart

What Actually Makes an HPC American-Made

Here's a concrete breakdown of what happens on American soil at HPC versus what the industry passes off as "USA assembly":

01

USA-Manufactured Frames

The Revolution, MPUV, Scout, and Titan frames are designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA — not pulled from an anonymous overseas catalog.

02

USA Battery Assembly

Every HPC battery pack is built in California and Nevada using the most advanced cell technology available. Full quality control, full traceability, no black-box overseas packs.

03

Hand-Built Wheels

Wheels are laced and trued by hand in-house — properly tensioned for the power, weight, and terrain of high-performance riding. Mass-produced wheels can't survive this segment.

04

Master Technician Build

Every bike is built start-to-finish by our master mechanical technicians and finished by our master electrical specialist. One person assembles every component; another handles every wire.

05

In-House Engineering

Our engineers have nearly two decades of high-performance e-bike experience. We don't license other people's platforms — we design our own.

06

Factory-Tuned Suspension

Every fork and rear shock is custom-tuned to the specific bike, geometry, and rider — not shipped with generic out-of-box settings.

07

Real US Customer Service

Our support team is in Simi Valley. The phone is answered by people who've built the bike you're calling about. No overseas call center, no chatbot wall.

08

American Jobs Since 2008

Every HPC sold supports American manufacturing jobs in California. We've been doing this for 18+ years through every cycle of the industry.

03 — Inside the Build

Inside the Simi Valley Build Process

Walk into our Simi Valley facility and you won't see a conveyor belt. You'll see individual workstations, each one staffed by a master technician building a single bike. Every HPC moves through the same disciplined process — one master mechanical technician assembles every component, and our master electrical specialist handles the wiring and final electrical finish. That's not a manufacturing slogan. It's how we eliminate the handoff errors that plague mass-produced bikes.

01

Frame Inspection

Every USA-manufactured frame is visually and dimensionally inspected before any components touch it.

02

Powertrain Build

Motor, controller, and battery are matched, programmed, and bench-tested before installation.

03

Wheel Lacing

Wheels are hand-laced, tensioned, and trued in-house for the load and power of high-performance riding.

04

Suspension Tuning

Every fork and shock is factory-tuned for the specific geometry and rider profile — not shipped at generic stock settings.

05

Final Assembly

One technician, one bike, full accountability. Every cable, bolt, and torque spec is set by hand.

06

Quality Verification

Each completed bike is road-tested, electronics verified, and signed off before it leaves the facility.

This is what separates real American manufacturing from import-and-rebrand: process control, individual accountability, and the ability to fix a problem the moment it appears — instead of discovering it after the bike is already in the customer's hands.

04 — The Most Critical Component

In-House USA Battery Systems

The battery is the most important — and most expensive — component on any electric bike. It's also the one almost every other brand outsources entirely to an overseas vendor, sealed in a plastic case with zero visibility into how it was built or what cells are inside.

HPC assembles every battery pack in California and Nevada. We use both 21700 and 18650 lithium-ion cells, depending on the application — and we only source the highest energy density cells available, for better power delivery and more real-world performance. We have full control over cell selection, spot-weld pattern, BMS programming, and thermal management. We know exactly what's inside every pack because we put it there.

That matters for three concrete reasons:

Range and longevity. The high-energy-density cells we use deliver more capacity per cell and more cycles before degradation than the budget cells found in most overseas packs. A properly built HPC battery is rated for thousands of cycles, not hundreds.

Safety. Battery fires are almost always caused by poor pack construction — bad welds, inadequate BMS protection, or cells operating outside spec. We control all of that in-house.

Serviceability. Because we built it, we can service it. When an overseas battery fails three years in, the brand selling the bike usually can't even tell you who made the pack — let alone fix it.

05 — Trusted by Government

GSA Schedule & Government-Verified Trust

When a US government agency procures equipment, the requirements are not the same as a consumer purchase. The vendor must be on an approved contracting vehicle. The product must meet domestic preference requirements. The supply chain must be traceable. Performance must be verifiable. Service must be guaranteed.

The Only True American E-Bike on GSA Schedule

Hi Power Cycles holds an active GSA Multiple Award Schedule contract — making our bikes available for direct procurement by federal, state, local, and military agencies through GSA Advantage and eBuy. No lengthy RFP process. No multi-month bidding cycles. A pre-negotiated, compliant procurement path from a verified American manufacturer.

GSA Contract # 47QSMS24D005F
US Special Forces US Army Corps of Engineers US Air Force

The GSA contract isn't a paperwork exercise. It's a federal verification of what we've been saying for 18 years: HPC is the only American-assembled high-performance e-bike brand that meets the standards a serious agency actually requires. When US Special Forces needed a high-performance electric bike for mission-critical applications, they bought HPC. When the Army Corps of Engineers needed durable off-road mobility, they bought HPC. When the US Air Force needed an American-made, mission-ready platform, they bought HPC.

If you're a dealer, this is also the contract vehicle that opens government, municipal, and institutional sales channels most e-bike brands will never be able to access. If you're a government procurement officer, the path is direct: contact our team at sales@hpcbikes.com or call (818) 734-1600.

06 — Standing Behind the Build

The Industry-Leading 3-Year Warranty

The standard e-bike warranty is one year. Some brands offer two. HPC backs every bike with a 3-year limited warranty — the longest in the high-performance segment — because we know what we built and we know it lasts.

This is a privilege of being a real American manufacturer. We can stand behind our bikes for three years because we control every piece of how they're made. We don't have to wait on overseas vendors to honor a warranty claim. We don't have to source replacement parts from a catalog. We open the bike, we fix the bike, we ship the bike back. That's the entire process — and it's only possible because the bike was built here in the first place.

09 — Your Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Are HPC electric bikes really made in the USA?

We do as much as we possibly can in the USA. We manufacture our aluminum frames in the USA, we build our batteries in the USA, and we do all the final assembly in the USA. Our components are sourced from around the world — including the USA, Germany, Taiwan, and China — because the best parts for a high-performance e-bike don't all come from one place. What matters is that the frame, the battery, and the hands that build the bike are American. Every HPC is hand-assembled in our Simi Valley, California facility, with our master mechanical technicians handling the build and our master electrical specialist finishing the wiring. We've operated this way since 2008.

What makes HPC different from other "American-made" e-bike brands?

Most brands using the "American-made" label are importing fully assembled bikes from overseas and doing final-touch assembly stateside. HPC is the only true USA-manufactured high-performance e-bike company on the GSA Schedule. Our aluminum frames, battery packs, hand-built wheels, and full assembly all happen here in the USA. The proof is the customer list: US Special Forces, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the US Air Force.

Why does it matter that HPC is on the GSA Schedule?

The GSA Schedule is a federal contracting vehicle. Vendors must be verified American manufacturers meeting domestic preference, supply chain, and quality standards to qualify. HPC holds GSA Contract # 47QSMS24D005F, which lets government agencies procure directly through GSA Advantage. For consumers and dealers, it's third-party verification we are a reputable company. The government also prioritizes companies who do as much as they can in USA-made and USA-assembled products.

How is an HPC battery different from an overseas battery?

HPC battery packs are assembled in California and Nevada using both 21700 and 18650 high-energy-density cells, chosen based on the application. We control cell selection, spot-weld quality, BMS programming, and thermal management. Overseas battery packs are sealed black boxes — the brand selling the bike often can't tell you what cells are inside. Our packs deliver longer range, more charge cycles, better power delivery, and full serviceability for the life of the bike.

What does the 3-year warranty cover?

HPC's 3-year limited warranty is the longest in the high-performance e-bike segment. It covers frame, motor, battery, and electronics under normal use. Warranty work is performed by the same technicians who built your bike. Because we built it here, we service it here — no waiting on overseas vendors.

Can government agencies and dealers buy HPC bikes?

Yes. Government agencies can procure directly through GSA Advantage and eBuy using our active contract # 47QSMS24D005F. Dealers interested in HPC's lineup, including access to government and institutional channels through our GSA contract, can reach us at sales@hpcbikes.com or (818) 734-1600.

How long has HPC been building electric bikes in America?

Since 2008. Over 18 years and 30,000+ happy customers. HPC was building high-performance American e-bikes before the category existed — when the rest of the industry was still convinced electric bikes should be capped at 250W. The industry eventually caught up; we've been here the entire time.

Ride American. Ride HPC.
